Madurai is one of the busy cities that offer various recreation facilities for the people in the city. This temple town holds a large number of museums, parks, cinema halls, art galleries, clubs, auditoriums and much more. Tourists from all over the world visit Madurai to explore the rich heritage and culture of the ancient city. Moreover, the city conducts trade exhibitions, fairs, seminar programs for the common people in the society. The Chamber Trade Fair is considered to be an important trade fair organized by the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber Trade Fair
The Chamber trade fair is usually conducted with a concept and theme ensuring to attract thousands of visitors and business tourists around the world. It also gives the opportunity for the traders and manufacturers to display their products and sell them in large base. Further, the 13th edition of the “Chamber Trade Fair” was organized on 18th December at the Tamukkam Grounds. With the theme “Industrial Linkage Empowers Agriculture”, the trade fair mainly focused to promote the agriculture oriented industries to a great extent.
Around 300 stalls were completely occupied by the agro-based industries and they displayed many useful products for the visitors. The inaugural function was headed by Collector N. Mathivanan. One of the major events conducted by the members of the Chamber is “Saved to be Saved”. This activity was framed to create the awareness among the people to conserve water resources, management of food, fuel and electricity.
Stalls in the Trade Fair
The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce has taken great efforts in organizing the trade fair successfully. Some of the stalls in the trade fair include household articles, electronic goods, building materials, conditioned foods, imported furniture, toys, electronic gadgets, consumer articles and much more. Apart from this, the public sector agencies have put up stalls in various corner of the Chamber Trade Fair. The exponents of the exhibition are Railways, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), District Industries Centre (DIC), Department of Central Excise, Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation Limited (TIIC), Service Tax and Small Savings and so on.
Few of the stalls were allotted for self-help groups with the main aim to encourage their great efforts to the society. After this grand success, the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce conducted the 16th edition of Chamber Trade Fair at Krishnakoil Grounds near Iyer Bungalow. More than 4 lakh people visited the exhibition and they enjoyed the fair by watching a special 3D show on ancient Egyptian culture.
